An overview of the Better Living Assessment service
The Better Living Assessment is provided by independent healthcare professionals
known as occupational therapists. The service is designed to provide
advice to help you maintain your independence at home, and make recommendations
to help you tackle daily living tasks, which may not be as easy
as they used to be.
All advisors are registered with the
Health Professionals Council and are members of the College of Occupational Therapy or other relevant professional
body.
Would I benefit from a Better Living Assessment?
The Better Living Assessment is designed for anyone who feels their everyday
independence, comfort or safety is compromised, perhaps due to the
natural process of ageing, a recent illness or disability. The assessment will provide
advice about how daily living activities can be made easier, or
how you may be able to adapt your living environment.
What are the choices I have in terms of the way my assessment is done?
Assessments can be undertaken over the telephone, in your home or at a local
Days Healthcare Centre of Excellence retailer. The method you choose will
probably depend on how extensive you would like the assessment to be, which is normally
determined by the number of areas you would like advice on.
If you’re not sure which method might best suit your needs you can speak to one
of our healthcare professionals using the free of charge helpline. Very simple enquiries
can also be covered using this helpline.
